Currently, various countries and states have creating data privacy laws to protect their citizens’ data from being abused. In Europe, these laws are labeled GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation); in California the privacy law is labeled CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act); and in South Africa it is labeled POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) in. Other states are developing their own privacy laws such as the Washington State Consumer Privacy Law, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, and others in Florida, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, and Utah.
