About Agency M-1

Agency M-1, a digital consulting agency, formed in 2020 at the Mike Ilitch School of Business as the result of a generous grant from HubSpot, as well as the leadership of the ITO student organization and its faculty advisors. The vision is to create opportunities for students while assisting real businesses and capitalize on untapped revenue using information systems.
Current opportunities exist for MISB students to apply their skills, education, and experience in the agency to benefit the small- and mid-market business community in Detroit, MI. Specialties range from marketing campaigns, data and campaign analytics, search engine optimization, and finance. These categories are all built on the pillars of inbound marketing, sales, and service strategies in HubSpot software. Students from all business disciplines (even those not mentioned above) at WSU/MISB will have the opportunity to participate in various roles, capacities, and responsibilities as our agency grows. Innovation and forward-thinking will be required as the needs of our internal (student organizations) and external (business community) customers exceed the capacities of what has already been built.


Job Description

As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you will receive experience in and be responsible for:

  • Design graphics and social media posts.
  • Develop copy for social channels, social ads, and blog posts.
  • Research trends on social media.
  • Identify consumer/student groups to target.
  • Compile and analyze social media statistics performance.
  • Report social media statistics.
  • Work with email marketing intern to ensure Agency M-1’s message is consistent on all communication channels.
  • Communicate with team members/student orgs to ensure the desired message is communicated properly.
  • Post to site blog and knowledge base.


Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing or related fields.
  • GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for a graduate student on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrate leadership in a field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations.
  • Able to contribute 10-12 hours per week, more during the summer months.

Desired Skills

  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop or similar creative platform.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media marketing metrics.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and concepts.
  • Collaboration with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Extremely reliable and dedicated.
  • Ability to be creative in social media copy and posts.
  • Respectful, with a high level of integrity.
  • Typically takes initiative.
  • Self-directed with attention to detail.
  • An innovative, customer-centric thinker.
  • Upon being hired candidates must complete HubSpot’s Social Media Marketing Certification and Inbound Marketing Certification and Facebook Marketing Course: How to Develop Effective Organic and Paid Strategies Certification.
