Introduction to Quantum Computing

Volkswagen

Volkswagen Group has been leading the way in quantum computing, starting researching in 2016.  Florian Neukart, Director, Volkswagen Group Data, indicates that Volkswagen sees great potential for quantum computing as challenges in the automotive industry can benefit from the inherent power quantum computing can generate.

A key area is mobility. Volkswagen demonstrated the first real-time traffic-routing system to rely on quantum computing.

Another key area is the paint shop in the automotive factory. "Every vehicle body entering the paint shop requires one of two types of primer, depending on the final vehicle color. Changing over between primer types slows down production and raises costs."

Another key area is vehicle pricing.  Quantum Computing can be used to strike a balance with customer demand.

Another key areas is developing new materials or determining where electric vehicle charging stations should be located.
