What does Data Visualization mean?

Graphical Representation of Data

Simply stated, "Data visualization is a graphical representation of numerical data."  Data visualization is the practice of translating information into a visual context so that individuals can understand and gain insights from the data. Thus, the main goal of data visualization is to make it easier to identify patterns, trends and outliers in large data sets.

According to the IBM Developer Skills Network Team, "data visualization is the graphical representation of data that interactively and efficiently conveys insights to clients, customers, and stakeholders. It is a way to summarize your findings and display it in a form that allows for interpretation and can help in identifying patterns or trends."
